Whole Home is the multi-stage household system. It handles sediment, rust, dirt and sand, reduces chlorine and chloramine, and improves taste and odor throughout the house. It also helps reduce sediment and certain contaminants reaching household fixtures and appliances.
Whole Home+ keeps all of that and adds a dedicated drinking water stage at the kitchen and refrigerator. The reasoning is simple: household filtration and consumption filtration are different jobs. One protects the water moving through your plumbing; the other focuses on the smaller volume of water your family actually drinks, cooks with and freezes into ice.
That dedicated drinking-water stage is also where fluoride filtration comes in. The whole-house portion of either package does not remove fluoride or reduce TDS. With Whole Home+, the dedicated drinking-water filtration provides fluoride filtration for the water served at those points: kitchen drinking water, kitchen cooking water, refrigerator water and refrigerator ice. It does not apply to showers, bathrooms or laundry, which draw from the whole-house supply.
That is why Whole Home+ is the package most households land on. It covers the everyday water and the water that goes into a glass.
What whole-house filtration does not do
Whole-house filtration, in either package, does not remove fluoride and does not reduce total dissolved solids (TDS) throughout the home. If filtered fluoride at the tap you drink from matters to you, that is what the dedicated drinking-water stage in Whole Home+ is for. If reducing TDS is a goal, say so on the Help Me Choose form and we'll tell you honestly what is and isn't addressed by what we install. We publish claims only where we can support them with documentation for the exact configuration installed in your home.
